About us

What is the Forum?

The UK Anti-corruption Forum is an informal  collaboration between organisations and individuals involved in the domestic and international infrastructure sector.

Forum’s objective

The Forum’s objective is provide an environment in which participants can discuss, learn about, agree on, and promote effective anti-corruption actions which help reduce corruption worldwide and provide a level playing field for ethical business.

Forum History

The Forum was established in 2004, and participants have included professional institutions, business associations, civil society organisations, contractors, consultants, law firms, government departments and prosecution agencies.

The Forum has played an active role in supporting some of the key developments in the UK and international anti-corruption arena, such as the UK Bribery Act 2010, BS 10500 anti-bribery management systems standard (2011), ISO 37001 anti-bribery management systems standard (2016), and EU and UK public sector debarment regulations.

When the Forum was first formed in 2004, the topic of corruption was hardly ever mentioned, and corruption was never prosecuted.  Anti-corruption management systems hardly existed.  Now, the anti-corruption environment has changed substantially.  In particular, corruption is now being openly discussed; extensive guidance had been published on implementing anti-corruption controls; many countries, including the UK have passed more effective anti-corruption legislation; prosecutions for corruption are becoming more common; and ISO 37001 has now been implemented in over 70 countries.

The Forum and its participants have materially and successfully contributed to this change of environment.   However, despite these successes, corruption remains a major problem both in the UK and internationally, so much remains to be done.

Forum management

The Forum’s activities are guided and managed by a voluntary Forum Committee.

Next key activity
